Gisela Amponsah left the Rants, Bants and Confessions podcast. She described it as an emotionally manipulative environment. Hosts were sacrificed for clicks.
In an interview on The Creative Inc with Ama Burland, she shared her feelings. “I felt very out of place,” she said. “These people didn’t care about me.”
What started as fun and storytelling changed quickly, Gisela claimed. It became a platform that thrived on internal conflict.
She felt discomfort when she learned bloggers were allegedly paid to insult co-hosts online. This was done to boost engagement through targeted attacks.
“How do you lie to your people?” she asked. “This person keeps attacking one particular co-host.”
Gisela found it puzzling that this blogger leaked behind-the-scenes news first. This included the podcast’s trailer and their departure announcement.
“It doesn’t make sense,” she said. “How does this person get the trailers before we do?”
For Gisela, betrayal was not just the issue—it was also the silence that followed. She believed producers’ inaction showed complicity.
“I get it, you have to promote your show,” she admitted. “But paying bloggers who insult hosts is another thing.”
