Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, announced plans for a national airline.
The government is seeking strategic partnerships to make this happen.
Due to current economic challenges, the government cannot set up a carrier alone.
They are looking for credible partners to support this vision.
Nikpe spoke to staff at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. He mentioned that a shortlist of potential partners will be revealed soon.
“We want a partnership to establish a national airline,” he said.
He added that finding the right partner will take time.
Ghana has not had a national airline since Ghana Airways collapsed in 2004.
Ghana International Airlines also failed in 2010.
Past discussions about reviving a national carrier have not succeeded.
