Tom Cruise has set a new record for a daring stunt. He performed this stunt for the latest "Mission: Impossible" film.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, he holds the title for “most burning parachute jumps by an individual.” He completed this feat 16 times.
Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records, praised Cruise. He said, “Tom doesn’t just play action heroes – he is one!” Glenday noted that Cruise’s success comes from his focus on authenticity.
He added that it’s an honor to recognize Cruise's fearlessness with this title.
Cruise performed these fiery jumps while filming "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning." This is the eighth film in the franchise, which began in 1996.
In a video posted on Paramount Pictures' YouTube page, Cruise discusses the stunt. He talks about logistics with stunt coordinators and says, “If this is twisted while it’s burning, I am going to be spinning and burnt.”
Later in the clip, he mentions wanting to be “real smart” and jokes about not taking risks. The video shows him skydiving out of a helicopter with his burning parachute all 16 times.
This stunt is not Cruise's first daring feat. He is known for performing his own stunts in movies. Last summer, he also showcased his skills during the Olympic Games.
