Guru reveals why he wears nose mask and hoodie to lectures

Ghanaian rapper Guru has opened up about the challenges he faced as SRC President at the University of Ghana, revealing that balancing fame with student life was no easy task.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Guru said students disliked celebrity behaviour on campus, which forced him to attend classes in hoodies and nose masks to avoid attention.

He shared that although lecturers didn’t pressure him to participate in class, he maintained a low profile—even keeping his identity hidden from some lecturers.

Guru credited “nerdy” classmates for helping him academically, ensuring he kept his GPA high. Despite the discomfort, he said his determination helped him thrive both in leadership and studies.
