I couldn't marry early because I was afraid of 'chop money' – McDan opens up on financial struggles

Renowned Ghanaian businessman and McDan Group Executive Chairman, Daniel McKorley, has disclosed that his fear of financial responsibilities delayed his decision to marry.

Speaking at the 2025 PCH Hangouts at ICGC The New Wine Temple in East Legon, McDan shared that growing up in an environment where financial struggles caused conflicts in marriages made him hesitant about settling down.

"I couldn't marry early because I was afraid of chop money," he admitted, adding that he witnessed both physical and verbal abuse stemming from financial issues in relationships.

McDan also revealed how his relentless pursuit of success affected his personal life, recalling how an ex-girlfriend, Dorothy, left him because he could not make enough time for her.

Reflecting on his early days, he recounted driving a Fiat Ritmo despite having a million dollars in his account, emphasizing his focus on building wealth rather than luxury.

His story formed part of the "Big Dreams" session, themed "From Vision to Reality: Turning Business Ideas into Action," aimed at inspiring young entrepreneurs to overcome financial challenges and pursue success.
