Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele recently shared a personal story. This chapter involved online mockery, emotional struggles, and therapy.
During an episode of the Chude Live Conversation Show, Funke opened up. She discussed how online trolls targeted her marital life. They spread hurtful rumors about her relationships.
“There was a video where women mocked me for not having a husband,” she said. “I see all the insults on social media. They claim I left one husband for another.”
The cyberbullying affected her deeply. “I cried and cried. I realized I needed to talk to someone.”
This realization led her to seek professional help. “I told myself I needed to speak up. After talking to my therapist, I felt better.”
Funke’s experience carries an important message for others facing similar issues. “It’s crucial to speak up when you’re struggling,” she advised.
“You can’t handle everything alone. Now, I feel strong enough to face any challenge.”
