Dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., known as Shatta Wale, has retracted his previous statements. He had implicated Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog, in the 2014 murder of Fennec Okyere.
In a signed letter dated April 30, 2025, Shatta Wale acknowledged that his earlier social media posts were misinterpreted. He recognized that these statements caused significant pain to Mr. Hanson and others.
He stated, “The publications included a statement that I have now come to know was generally misunderstood.” This statement was misconstrued as Mr. Hanson confessing to involvement in the murder of Fennec Okyere.
Shatta Wale clarified that he did not intend to suggest Bulldog's guilt. He said, “I wish to retract each of the statements in the said series of publications.”
He emphasized that he did not mean to imply Mr. Hanson had any role in the murder. The letter also addressed other damaging claims made against Bulldog.
Shatta Wale wrote about statements implying immorality or improper behavior by Mr. Hanson and other public figures. He expressed regret for any harm caused by these claims.
“I also wish to apologize to Mr. Hanson and all those affected,” he added. His publications from November 2, 2022, caused pain and ridicule for many individuals.
