Ghanaian musician Ded Buddy has expressed deep frustration with the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) over what he describes as unfair royalty payments.
Speaking in an interview, the Yebesa hitmaker revealed that after years of making music, he was shocked to receive only GH¢158 as royalties.
Disappointed by the amount, he decided to throw away his mobile money SIM card in frustration.
Ded Buddy criticized GHAMRO for failing to properly compensate musicians, stressing that artists deserve better financial rewards for their hard work.
His revelation has sparked fresh debate about the effectiveness of GHAMRO’s royalty distribution system, with many industry players calling for urgent reforms.
Fans have since reacted, with some supporting his stance and others urging musicians to find alternative ways to secure their earnings.
