I’m not afraid of tapping into Nigerian market and using their language - Olivetheboy

Ghanaian artist Olivetheboy has shared his views on a popular topic. Many people discuss how Ghanaian artists sound Nigerian.

On Daybreak Hitz, he admitted that he is one of those artists. He noted that this trend is not new.

Olivetheboy believes that music influences and changes are now accepted. He pointed out that genres like Afrobeat evolved from styles such as highlife.

He said, “Most songs borrow from somewhere. That’s why we talk about Afrobeat growing from highlife.”

He emphasized that borrowing elements from other cultures is natural.

“It’s about accepting that we learn from others,” he explained. “It wasn’t always intentional, but now it is. We want to project Ghana beyond our borders.”

Olivetheboy believes using different languages helps connect with audiences better.

“I’m not afraid to tap into other markets and use their language,” he said. “This way, they will understand my music.”

Recently, Olivetheboy released an EP titled ‘Full.’ It features artists like Mayorkun, Qing Madi, Sarkodie, Veola, and Soundz.
