I only booked him for shows— Sam Larry denies beating Mohbad

Showbiz promoter Sam Larry has denied any involvement in the physical abuse or death of Afrobeats star Mohbad, stating their relationship was purely professional.

Speaking virtually during the coroner’s inquest, Sam Larry said he never assaulted Mohbad, claiming their fallout stemmed from a missed performance. According to him, he paid Mohbad ₦2 million for a birthday show in Dubai, but the artist failed to show up, sparking a disagreement.

Larry said he demanded a refund via Instagram and even involved a lawyer but got no response. Addressing the viral Elegushi Beach incident, he claimed there was no violence—only a verbal confrontation resolved peacefully with help from Zlatan.

He also dismissed a controversial clip where he’s heard saying “Won ti gbe sin,” asserting it was recorded in 2013 and taken out of context. Larry urged the court to question those who were with Mohbad before his death.
