I used to sell cassettes for Osei Kwame Despite while in secondary school –KOD

Kofi Okyere Darko, known as KOD, is the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency. He recently shared his early work experience with Ghanaian businessman Osei Kwame Despite.

KOD spoke to blogger Ghhyper at the opening of Despite’s auto museum in East Legon on June 1, 2025. He revealed that he sold music CDs and cassettes during his teenage years. This was while he was still in secondary school.

He explained that his relationship with Osei Kwame Despite began during this time. KOD believes this experience shaped his journey into the music and entertainment industry.

“I used to sell cassettes from Lumba’s shop and worked for Despite,” KOD said. “That was my secondary school job and part of my introduction to music.”

KOD also mentioned he was an early voice expected to join Peace FM. However, he could not take the opportunity because he worked at another radio station, Radio Gold. “I couldn’t show my face,” he added.
