Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Nti has highlighted the financial challenges Ghanaian musicians face, especially with unfair booking fees.
In an interview with Fiifi Praat, he revealed that show promoters often prioritize profits over compensating artists fairly, leading to payments far below their worth.
Reflecting on his experiences, Kofi Nti disclosed he has never earned £4,000 for a UK performance.
He noted that private events and individual engagements often offer better pay than promoter-driven shows, as clients in such settings value and reward artists' craft more.
His insights underscore a broader issue in the entertainment industry, where many artists struggle to receive fair financial recognition for their work.
