I was told politics is not for ‘Cantata’ people – Actress Ebi Bright

Ghanaian actress and newly-elected MP for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, revealed challenges she faced during her political journey.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Ebi shared that her ambitions were dismissed because of her background in the creative arts, specifically being part of the Cantata series.

She recounted instances of ridicule, with some questioning her suitability for politics due to her acting career.

Despite these criticisms, Ebi believes her victory will inspire other creatives to pursue politics.

She emphasized her commitment to serving the people of Tema Central with a non-partisan approach.

Ebi, who ran on the NDC ticket, secured the seat after three attempts since 2016. She noted that her initial attempt in 2012 was not under the NDC.

Her triumph over a traditionally NPP stronghold symbolizes her determination to break barriers and pursue her interests without fear.
