Ghanaian afro-fusion singer Gyakie has shared some regrets about her early career. She wishes she had answered interview questions differently when she started.
Reflecting on her past, she noted that some of her answers were childish. "When I was 19 or 20, I wish I had responded better," she said in an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz.
She acknowledged that her mindset at that age influenced her responses. "I allowed myself to be who I was back then," she explained.
Gyakie also discussed the impact of hate speech on her. After releasing "Forever," negative comments affected her deeply.
"I read every comment and checked the person's page," she admitted. During that time, she struggled in the studio to create another hit song.
To overcome these challenges, Gyakie focused on self-motivation. "Now, I post without reading comments or letting negativity affect me," she said.
She learned to trust her music-making process. "If a song is meant to blow up, it will," Gyakie concluded.
