Beyoncé and Jay-Z are one of the world's most famous couples. They have a well-known family, including their daughter Blue Ivy, 13, and twins Rumi and Sir, who are seven.

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother, worries about fame affecting her grandchildren. She says, "If I had my first choice, they would not have to deal with this." For now, she believes the children are not too exposed to fame.

However, she fears they will eventually see negative things written about them. "One day they'll read the ignorance that people put out there," she explains. This concerns her deeply.

Despite these pressures, Knowles praises Beyoncé and Jay-Z as parents. She says they spend an abnormal amount of time with their kids. "They have great relationships with their children," she adds.

Knowles is speaking to BBC News ahead of her new memoir release titled *Matriarch*. The book covers her childhood in Texas and her daughters' rise to fame. It also discusses her experiences as a grandmother.

She now has four grandchildren. This includes Julez Smith, Solange's son. Knowles also considers herself a grandmother to Kelly Rowland's children.
