If I were starting music today, I would put more effort in my branding - Mzbel

Mzbel shared that she entered the music industry by accident. This is why she struggled to brand her craft effectively.

The Ghanaian hiplife artist spoke with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM. She mentioned losing opportunities due to poor branding.

She believes this lack of branding is why she hasn’t won awards in twenty years.

“I am not blaming anybody. I think it is the branding,” she said.

“If I were starting music today, I would focus on my branding.” She noted that her early approach lacked proper planning and strategy.

Mzbel compared herself to Becca, who was well-branded by Kiki Banson. She advised new female artists to prioritize their brands and avoid her mistakes.

Mzbel rose to fame in 2004 with her first album, 'Awoso Me'. During her peak, she was the biggest female artist in Ghana.

She gained popularity in other African countries like Nigeria and Kenya. However, she feels Ghana has not recognized her contributions with any awards.

Known for being outspoken, Mzbel confirmed she has not retired from music. She is currently working on a new song about bad friends.

Her popular songs include "16 Years," "Awoso Me," and "My Bonnet."
