Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), was named the world’s most beautiful airport at the 2024 Prix Versailles International Architecture Awards. Recognized for its innovative and sustainable design, the airport’s undulating roof draws inspiration from Abu Dhabi's desert landscape, providing natural shading to reduce energy consumption. Its X-shaped structure maximizes space, incorporating sustainable materials while celebrating Abu Dhabi's natural elements—sea, desert, city, and oasis. A highlight is Sana Al Nour, a 22-metre-tall glass installation that filters natural light and enhances airflow. Opened in November 2023, the terminal spans 750,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 45 million passengers annually, positioning it as a global hub and a benchmark for sustainable airport architecture.
