It's a good feeling leading the student populace of UG - Guru

Ghanaian rapper Guru is in his final year at the University of Ghana. He recently spoke about his experience as the Students' Representative Council (SRC) President. The interview was conducted by Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.

Guru reflected on his journey from performer to student leader. He shared his feelings about being SRC President. "To me, it's a great step," he said. "It's been a long time coming."

He mentioned that transitioning into academics was challenging. Leading the student body has been rewarding for him. "These were some things I hoped to do before finishing school," he added.

When asked why he aimed for such a high position, Guru emphasized impacting lives. "I wanted to find a way to impact the entire jurisdiction," he explained. His goal was not just personal success in music but broader influence.

He considered running for a departmental position first. However, he realized that limiting himself would not be best. "Let me go for the bigger picture," he decided, aiming for the SRC role.

Guru also discussed what contributed to his election victory. He noted that music often shifts discussions away from important topics. "I've been projecting content, and dynamics in music will switch conversations," he said.

As SRC President, Guru shows dedication to serving students and making a positive impact at the university.
