Jay-Z has requested the identity of a woman accusing him of raping her in 2000, when she was 13, to be revealed or the case dismissed.
The accuser, identified as "Jane Doe," claims the assault occurred after the MTV VMAs alongside Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Both Jay-Z and Combs deny the allegations.
Jay-Z's lawyer argues anonymity undermines the pursuit of truth, while the accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, rejects claims of extortion.
The lawsuit, initially against Combs, has been re-filed in New York.
Jay-Z insists such severe allegations should be criminal, not civil.
Combs faces separate federal charges of sex trafficking. Both maintain their innocence.
