Jennifer Lopez Sued Over Photos from Hollywood Party

Jennifer Lopez is facing a lawsuit. She is being sued for posting photos of herself at a Hollywood party. The photographer and a paparazzi agency claim she did not get permission to use the images.

The singer shared pictures on social media. These were taken at the Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair Party in Los Angeles. This event took place the night before this year's Golden Globes in January.

Photographer Edwin Blanco and Backgrid filed lawsuits. They say they own the copyright to two specific photos. They argue that Lopez used these images to promote her public appearances.

Backgrid and Mr. Blanco are seeking damages. They want up to $150,000 (£112,000) for each photo used without permission.

The pictures show Lopez in a white dress and faux fur coat outside Chateau Marmont. She posted them on Instagram and X with the caption "GG Weekend Glamour." Many fan and fashion pages then shared her posts.

The lawsuits state that Lopez's use of the images was unauthorized and commercial. It was intended for self-promotion, they claim. For instance, she highlighted the designer of her clothing and jewelry.

Typically, the person who takes a photo owns its copyright. This means they decide who can use it and how much they should pay.

According to legal documents, Backgrid and Mr. Blanco contacted Lopez's representatives after her post. They agreed on a deal and payment, but she has not signed the agreement yet.
