Jennifer Lopez is being sued for posting her photos from a Hollywood party. The photographer and a paparazzi agency claim she did not get permission to use them.
Lopez shared pictures on social media from the Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair Party. This event took place in Los Angeles before this year's Golden Globes in January.
Photographer Edwin Blanco and Backgrid, his agency, filed lawsuits. They say they own the copyright to two of the photos.
The lawsuits argue that Lopez used the images to promote her public appearances. They claim she aimed to boost user engagement and enhance her brand's credibility.
Backgrid and Blanco are seeking up to $150,000 (£112,000) in damages for each photo. The images show Lopez in a white dress and faux fur coat outside Chateau Marmont.
She posted these photos on Instagram and X with the caption "GG Weekend Glamour." Many fan and fashion pages then shared them widely.
The lawsuits state that Lopez's unauthorized use of the images was commercial. It was intended for self-promotion, highlighting her clothing designer and jewelry.
The legal documents explain that anyone in a photo does not own its copyright. Typically, this right belongs to the photographer or their company.
Backgrid and Blanco contacted Lopez's representatives after she posted the photos. They agreed on a deal and payment, but she has not signed it yet.
BBC News has reached out to Lopez's representatives for comment.
Lopez has faced legal action before for sharing others' photos in 2019 and 2020. Other celebrities like Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and Khloe Kardashian have also received similar complaints.
