Jesus told me, ‘move, they will join us’ — Ekene Umenwa reflects on faith journey in Nollywood

Nollywood actress Ekene Umenwa is celebrating her Christian faith. She faced pressure to abandon her beliefs when she started in the movie industry. However, she firmly resisted this temptation.

In an emotional Instagram post, Ekene shared a joyful video. She danced to the gospel song ‘No Turning Back’ by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor.

Her caption resonated with many as she reflected on her journey. She recalled a pivotal moment in her career and faith.

“When I joined Nollywood years ago, some told me to drop Jesus,” she wrote. “They said I should move with the flow to succeed. I was shocked! Never! I ran to my father.”

Ekene chose to stay true to her convictions instead of fitting in. This decision, she believes, shaped her destiny.

“Jesus told me, ‘I am with you. Focus and don’t look back.’ Today, everyone talks about Jesus and Mary boldly.”

She expressed happiness that God never failed her. He took her to the top and made her an example for others.

“I was so moved that my noise made my parents run downstairs,” she added.
