Joyce Blessing recalls how her parents’ divorce shattered her education

**Joyce Blessing's Journey**

Joyce Akosua Twene, known as Joyce Blessing, is a gospel singer. She recently shared how her parents' divorce impacted her education.

Joyce had dreams of becoming a journalist, designer, and musician. However, she had to drop out of school in junior high due to the separation. After that, she lived with others as a domestic worker.

Eventually, Joyce started selling goods on the streets of Kumasi. She realized she could support herself by buying and selling items. This led her to live on the streets while working.

In an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes, Joyce spoke about her struggles. “It was a broken home,” she said. “My mom and dad were not together to care for me.”

She wanted to pursue singing, designing, and news anchoring but couldn't continue school. When asked what she did after dropping out, Joyce replied that she sold various items.

“I sold sachet water and anything I could find,” she explained. “I remember selling broom, gari, pears, cassava, plantain, soap, and kerosene.”

While in junior high school (JSS 1), Joyce helped a kenkey vendor before classes. After school, she would gather firewood to sell to food vendors.

Despite these challenges, Joyce improved her English through technology and the internet. She worked hard to achieve her music dreams.
