The GH₵5 million defamation case between actress Martha Ankomah and actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lilwin, is testing the patience of the High Court in Accra.
What should have been a simple resolution is now delayed. Lilwin and his legal team missed court on April 14, 2025. They failed to meet the deadline for an out-of-court settlement due by April 1.
The lawsuit began after comments Lilwin made about Martha's public stance. She had stated she would not work with Kumawood actors due to poor storylines. Lilwin's response allegedly crossed a line, prompting Martha to seek legal action.
Although Lilwin initially wanted to resolve the issue outside of court, he has not followed through effectively.
Martha’s lawyer, Nii Appiatu Plange, informed the court that all terms were sent to Lilwin’s team in mid-March. Since then, there has been no communication from them.
“I sent the agreed terms to defendant’s lawyer in mid-March,” Plange said. “As I speak, I have not heard anything from Counsel.”
A representative for Lilwin’s lead counsel attributed the delay to illness. She claimed that documents were only recently given to Lilwin for signing and requested more time from the court.
Justice Forson Agyapong Baah expressed frustration over this delay. He expected progress today and said, “This dragging of feet in signing the terms is not good for anybody.”
