Juliet Ibrahim Joins Bimbo Ademoye in Fight Against Piracy
Juliet Ibrahim has teamed up with Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye. They are calling out Ghanaian TV stations for showing movies without permission.
Ibrahim criticized Pemsan TV and other channels for illegally airing her films. She expressed frustration over their disregard for intellectual property rights.
On Instagram, she shared her experiences with piracy issues involving these stations. She noted that many local media outlets ignore cease and desist letters.
Ibrahim accused the TV stations of downloading her movies from YouTube without consent. Despite legal efforts, they continue to air her work unlawfully.
She stated, "As an independent filmmaker, I find it disheartening to see this." Ibrahim emphasized that piracy affects not just her but also other creators.
She called on various agencies to enforce regulations protecting content creators' rights. These include the National Communications Authority and the Ghana Copyright Office.
Her comments follow Bimbo Ademoye's warnings about illegal streaming by Ghanaian stations. Social media users reacted to Ibrahim's complaints, expressing support and concern.
Earlier, Sam George, a Communications Minister, acknowledged Ademoye’s concerns. He promised to discuss the issue with colleagues to find a solution.
Kafui Danku also assured that efforts are underway to stop illegal streaming of content.
