Highlife musician KK Fosu described the genre as dynamic, evolving with each generation while retaining its core elements like frikyiwa, guitars, and rhythms.
He highlighted how Nana Ampadu’s style differed from later generations, including Daddy Lumba’s Burger Highlife and George Darko’s creations.
Fosu noted that his Highlife style, alongside contemporaries like Ofori Amponsah, Daasebre, Kofi B, and Kwabena Kwabena, also stood out due to its authenticity.
He emphasized his unique approach, staying true to the traditional feel and avoiding R&B-like slangs in Twi.
Fosu stressed the importance of mastering Highlife's tones and language, attributing its demanding nature to why many struggle to sustain careers in the genre.
