KNUST declares 2 former students persona non grata over indiscipline, campus disturbances

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has declared two former students, Ransford Fosu-Boateng and Raphael Appiah Owusu, persona non grata. This decision is due to their ongoing unlawful behavior and threats to campus security.

An official statement from the Office of the Registrar revealed that Mr. Fosu-Boateng was dismissed on March 21, 2022. Mr. Owusu’s dismissal took effect at the end of the 2023/2024 academic year.

Despite being removed from the university roll, both individuals continued to enter university residential halls. They engaged in disruptive behavior, harassed students, and ignored disciplinary rules.

The latest incident involved an unlawful assembly that resulted in vandalism. This event was recorded by the university's CCTV system.

KNUST Management stated that both individuals are no longer recognized as students. They are banned from accessing or loitering on campus. The statement emphasized they should be treated as trespassers if found on university grounds.

Management warned current students against associating with them. Any student caught helping them would face severe disciplinary action.

The statement was signed by Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office. It concluded with a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.
