Kafui Danku, Sam George address Bimbo Ademoye's copyright infringement concerns

Kafui Danku, CEO of the National Film Authority (NFA), and Sam George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, are stepping in to help Bimbo Ademoye. She is a Nigerian producer and actress facing unauthorized broadcasts of her movies on Ghanaian TV stations.

Bimbo shared her frustrations on Instagram. She tagged both officials to seek their intervention.

Sam George acknowledged her concerns. He plans to discuss the issue with his colleague responsible for TV content. He assured that the government respects intellectual property laws in Ghana.

George stated, “I would be raising the issue with my colleague minister.” He emphasized that the government will protect intellectual property rights. He believes Ghana and Nigeria can collaborate for mutual benefit.

Kafui Danku also responded to Bimbo Ademoye's situation. She assured Bimbo that urgent action is being taken against copyright infringement. “You should see definite actions in a couple of weeks,” she noted.

This issue is not new. Other Nigerian creatives have raised similar concerns about Ghanaian TV stations airing their movies without licenses.

In September 2023, actress Ruth Kadiri warned Ghanaian television stations about unauthorized broadcasts of her content. She announced plans to pursue legal action against offenders.

Last month, Omoni Oboli expressed outrage over Ghanaian TV stations airing her films without permission. She criticized the Ghana National Film Authority for not addressing this issue.

Bimbo Ademoye’s complaints have sparked discussions on copyright issues. Actress Juliet Ibrahim has also shared her views on this unfortunate trend.
