The High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition. This petition challenged the election of Frank Annoh-Dompreh. He is the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the 2024 general election.
The court struck out the petition on Thursday. This followed a legal application from Gary Nimako Marfo, the Director of Legal Affairs for the New Patriotic Party.
Presiding judge Krofa Addae ruled to dismiss the case. He stated that there was no merit in the petitioner’s claims. The court held that the Electoral Commission's results reflected the true will of the people.
As part of its judgement, the court awarded costs of GH¢25,000 against the petitioner.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh welcomed this decision. He views it as a vindication of his electoral victory and public confidence in him.
The plaintiff in this case is Amenorpe Philibert Fummey. He is the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
