Kwame A-Plus Teases Chairman Wontumi After His Arrest by EOCO

On May 27, 2025, Kwame A-Plus teased Chairman Wontumi on social media. This came after the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested him. A-Plus shared an old video of Wontumi dismissing the return of President John Mahama and the NDC.

Ghanaians reacted to A-Plus's post in large numbers. The Gomoa Central MP, known as Kwame Asare Obeng, commented on Wontumi's arrest. The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman was detained for questioning related to illegal mining charges.

Reports indicate that his arrest connects to a $55 million Akonta Mining fraud case. Footage of his arrest circulated on social media after he visited the Police Headquarters in Accra.

A-Plus has had past issues with Wontumi. He shared a photo of previous news stories about their legal disputes. These disputes began when Wontumi cited A-Plus in a defamation lawsuit against Afia Schwarzenegger.

Afia claimed she had a relationship with Wontumi during her appearance on United Showbiz. She also revealed explicit details about this alleged affair. Following this, A-Plus faced a GH₵60,000 fine from the Tema High Court for contempt of court.

Social media users reacted to A-Plus teasing Wontumi. One user commented on the state of the NPP party leadership. Another praised A-Plus for holding leaders accountable.

Earlier reports noted that A-Plus vowed to shut down Wontumi's media stations if he became president. He also promised to report Wontumi to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
