Have you ever been to a comedy show with risqué content? If so, this article is for you.
After a popular comedy event, a friend called me. He was upset about the vulgar language used during the show. He felt uncomfortable attending with his fourteen-year-old son.
His complaint reminded me of my own experiences at comedy shows. I love comedy and have attended many live events in Ghana. However, some comedians need to be more mindful of their material.
We must remember that we live in a society with norms and values. Comedy should not cross certain lines just for laughs. Comedians need to be aware of their audience.
I don’t mind lewd content for adults, but it’s problematic when children are present. Adult shows should not include kids in the audience.
Comedy producers and organizers should clearly label shows with x-rated language. This way, parents can decide whether to bring their children or not.
