Kwasi Ernest: Table of Men not PR machine for Gospel acts, currently on break

Kwasi Ernest, CEO of Media Excel and a member of Table of Men (ToM), responded to music fans. They are asking ToM to support Gospel musicians in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) Artiste of the Year category.

The 2025 edition is set for May 10. Team Eternity Ghana (TEG) and Joe Mettle are the Gospel acts competing against Black Sherif, King Paluta, King Promise, and Kweku Smoke.

In 2017, Joe Mettle became the first Gospel musician to win AoTY. Diana Hamilton won it in 2021. In 2023, Piesie Esther nearly won but lost to Black Sherif.

ToM previously campaigned for Diana Hamilton’s win. TEG has been active on music charts with their Testimony tape featuring the hit "Defe Defe." This has sparked discussions about ToM's potential support for their chances at AoTY.

Kwasi Ernest told Graphic Showbiz that ToM does not campaign just because an artist sings Gospel. He emphasized that campaigns should be led by an artist’s team. However, ToM is always ready to support those efforts.

“Table of Men is not biased,” Ernest said. “It’s important for nominated artists to have their teams lead campaigns.”

He added that if artists believe ToM's influence could help them win, they are willing to assist. “We stand for promoting the Gospel music industry,” he stated.

Ernest explained that they cannot start campaigning without being asked. They also need to respect the strategies of artists’ management teams.

Currently, ToM is on a break from advocacy work. They are focusing on initiatives like artistic training, vocal seminars, distribution services, marketing, and promotion.
