Lingua franca: Words, lyrics are superior to beat, music in Gospel – Pastor Josh Laryea

Pastor Josh Laryea Pastor Josh Laryea

Pastor Josh Laryea emphasized that the essence of Gospel music lies in its lyrics and message, not the beat.

Responding to Nigerian Gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey's advice for Ghanaian singers to use English for global reach, Laryea stressed that language choice should align with the audience.

He highlighted that true Gospel music nourishes the spirit through Christ-centered doctrines, contrasting it with soulish music that stirs emotions without spiritual impact.

He warned against mistaking motivational or secular songs for Gospel, citing artists like Amakye Dede and Kojo Antwi as examples.

To identify genuine Gospel music, he urged Christians to focus on its alignment with biblical teachings on Christ's death, burial, resurrection, and legacy.
