Kanya King, founder of the MOBO Awards, has announced she is diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer.

King, who launched the Mobos in 1996 to celebrate Black talent in entertainment, described the diagnosis as an unexpected challenge but expressed hope to inspire resilience and raise awareness about early detection.

Despite her illness, King aims to attend the next MOBO Awards in Newcastle.

Her announcement has drawn support from public figures like Marvin Humes and Alexandra Burke.

Recently, King was honored with a lifetime achievement award for her transformative work in promoting Black artists.

The MOBO organization affirmed it remains in capable hands as King focuses on her health.
