Maame Yaa Konamah opens up about husband’s death after 11 years

Ghanaian media personality Maame Yaa Konamah recently shared a painful moment from her life. She lost her husband, Mr. Gabriel Antwi, 11 years ago.

Maame Yaa described the tragic event that occurred on May 20, 2014. It started as an ordinary Tuesday morning. They exchanged words before she left for work.

He wished her a good day and blessed her. Later that day, everything changed dramatically.

After reading the news, she received a call about her husband. “He had passed out,” they told her. She asked them to take him to the hospital.

They moved him from Maranatha Hospital to LEKMA Hospital but were turned away. Finally, they took him to the 37 Military Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead just five minutes after she arrived.

The shock was overwhelming for Maame Yaa. For years, she struggled to talk about that day without breaking down.

“At first, I couldn’t talk about this,” she admitted. “But it is well now.” She feels grateful for how far she has come since then.

In her grief, Maame Yaa found comfort in scripture. A passage from Isaiah 57:1–2 provided solace during this difficult time.

“That’s the verse I wrote in my heart for him,” she said.

Over the years, Maame Yaa's story transformed from heartbreak to strength and grace. By sharing her journey publicly, she honors her husband's memory and comforts others facing loss.
