Guru's Balancing Act: Music and Education

Rapper Maradona Yeboah Adjei, known as Guru, shared his experiences balancing education and music.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on April 14, 2025, he discussed his journey. He was still studying when he released many hit songs.

“Combining music and academics is incredibly challenging,” he said. “But I’ve managed to put out a few successful songs.” He mentioned that "Eye Nwanwa" is currently topping the charts.

Guru explained how his team finds inspiration for their music. “We tap into street culture—the rhythms and sounds around us,” he noted. This approach has helped them meet expectations in their songs.

He also addressed speculation about his track "Enkoyie," featuring Benji. Some listeners thought it had political themes due to the word “kakistocracy.” However, Guru clarified that this was not the case.

“Most of the time, we construct songs around specific ideas,” he explained. In this instance, the song focused on relationships rather than politics.

Although Guru hasn’t released a full album in six or seven years, he remains active in music. He prefers to drop new tracks whenever creativity strikes him.
