Rapper Maradona Yeboah Adjei, known as Guru, shared his experiences balancing education and music.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he spoke about his journey. This interview took place on April 14, 2025. Guru revealed he was studying while releasing hit records.
“Combining music and academics is incredibly challenging,” he said. “But I’ve managed to release songs that have done well.” He mentioned that "Eye Nwanwa" is currently topping the charts. He also noted that "Bebree" made a significant impact.
Guru discussed his creative process with his team. They often draw inspiration from their surroundings. “We tap into street culture—the rhythms and sounds around us,” he explained. “That’s our formula for success.” Some original ideas come from outside contributors.
He also addressed speculation about his song "Enkoyie," featuring Benji. The song references "kakistocracy," leading many to think it has political themes. However, Guru clarified this misunderstanding.
“Most of the time, we build songs around specific ideas,” he said. “In this case, I was exploring relationships, not politics.”
Although Guru hasn’t released a full album in six or seven years, he remains active in music. He prefers to drop new songs whenever creativity strikes him.
