In the tapestry of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, few stories are as compelling as that of Theresa Weyerane Adiali, fondly called Weyerane.
Representing the Upper East Region in Miss Ghana 2025, Weyerane’s journey is a captivating narrative of resilience, advocacy, and ambition.
Hailing from the Adiali royal family in the small town of Chiana, Weyerane is not just a beauty queen; she is a beacon of hope and inspiration.
Weyerane's nature of beauty and resilience mirrors the Upper East Region's vibrant culture and its economic and climatic challenges.
Growing up amidst the region's rich traditions and stunning attractions, like the Whistling Rocks of Tongo, the Paga Crocodiles Pond, the historical Slave Camp, the Sirigu Crafts village, and the lively Smock and Livestock Sawaaba Market, she learned to appreciate the strength found in her community's artistic spirit.
This vibrant cultural backdrop is juxtaposed with the harsh realities of an economy reliant on agriculture, which struggles under unfavourable weather conditions.
Just as the region's artisans craft exquisite goods despite these hardships, Weyerane embodies the resilience of her people.
Her experiences instilled in her a determination to rise above adversity, motivating her to become a voice for those facing similar challenges.
“Growing up in a marginalised community taught me the value of resilience,” she reflects, emphasising how her journey is deeply intertwined with both the beauty and struggles of the Upper East Region.
Weyerane’s professional journey reflects her commitment to advocacy and storytelling.
With a background in communication, she has honed skills in news reporting, grassroots engagement, and strategic promotions.
Her work spans roles in media broadcasting, a pivotal moment in humanitarianism and diplomacy working with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and delving into unconventional roles in advocacy.
Whether reporting news or developing strategic partnerships, Weyerane passions run deep in using storytelling to connect with communities and address critical societal issues through the amplification of marginalized voices.
One of Weyerane’s dreams is to uplift the Upper East Region through the promotion of crafts and basketry weaving, a traditional skill in the Upper East Region.
She envisions a future where rural women and other vulnerable groups are equipped with the skills to turn these crafts into sustainable livelihoods.
Passion Project: Empowering Women Through Craft
“Empowering women economically not only transforms families but entire communities,” she explains.
Weyerane’s life reflects a belief that challenges can be transformed into opportunities.
Despite the economic difficulties, gender inequality, and marginalization she witnessed growing up, these experiences became her motivation.
Her professional expertise in journalism and development communication, combined with her aspiration to pursue a career in law, positions her as a dynamic leader advocating for justice and equity.
As the representative of the Upper East Region in Miss Ghana 2025, Weyerane takes pride in showcasing her region’s unique heritage.
From traditional crafts to cultural expressions, she aims to shine a light on the region’s untapped potential.
Through her advocacy and dedication, she seeks to inspire others to embrace their roots while striving for a better future.
A Vision for Change
Weyerane’s participation in Miss Ghana 2025 is not just about a crown; it’s about using the platform to amplify her mission.
Her journey exemplifies beauty with a purpose, proving that intelligence, compassion, and determination are the hallmarks of true leadership.
