Most people didn’t get the message behind my outlook and gesture at the TGMAs – Tulenkey

Tulenkey won the 'Best Hiplife Song' at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA). He said people misunderstood his appearance at the awards night.

He covered his mouth to represent men who can't express themselves. Tulenkey spoke about this on Cape Coast-based Property FM.

"Most people didn’t understand my message at the TGMA," he said. "I had something covering my mouth."

Some thought it was uncomfortable for him to stay silent. He urged them to consider men who suffer in silence.

"I only covered my mouth for a short time," he explained. "But many men can’t speak their whole lives, and some have died."

When he won the award, he felt unable to speak. "Men aren’t supposed to express themselves in happy or sad moments," he justified on the show.
