Nicki Minaj slams Grammys over Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ snub

Rap icon Nicki Minaj has openly criticized the Grammy Awards, declaring she no longer wants to be nominated due to what she calls "bias and unfairness."

In a recent statement, she expressed her disappointment that Wizkid’s global hit Essence did not win Best Global Music Performance in 2020.

According to her, the song dominated airwaves worldwide and deserved the award.

"I lost respect for the Grammys when Essence didn’t win. If they ever nominate me, I won’t attend. We need our own award system that isn't biased," she stated.

Nicki also revealed that many artists, including herself and Wizkid, have been overlooked because they refuse to sign "shady deals."

Despite the loss, she believes Wizkid remains a legend loved by fans worldwide.
