Veteran broadcaster Tommy Annan-Forson criticized modern music for lacking storylines, calling it "blabber music" with little meaning.
Speaking on CTV, he emphasized the importance of storytelling in music and urged DJs, presenters, and artists to prioritize quality.
Responding on Facebook, musician Okyeame Kwame argued that contemporary music reflects the "visual-audio" era, where stories are told through videos, dances, and social media.
He explained that pop music intentionally simplifies lyrics to invite audience interpretation through reactions like skits and dances.
Okyeame Kwame urged respect for modern music creators and audiences, noting the shift in how stories are conveyed.
Annan-Forson, however, praised country music for its emotional narratives and connection to listeners.
