The AfroTalks Media Soirée took place on May 1. It was held at the Chateau Nana Willine Hotel in Accra. Ghanaian musician and activist Okyeame Kwame spoke passionately about reclaiming African heritage. He urged attendees to redefine their future.
The soirée attracted young African Dreamers, creatives, media practitioners, and changemakers. It served as a lead-up to the main AfroTalks event on May 24. This event will be at the University of Ghana School of Law Auditorium.
Award-winning poet Adatsi Brownson moderated a panel discussion. Okyeame Kwame joined panelists Bright Tenbil, Emmaline Datey, and Diallo Sumbry. Each shared valuable insights and experiences about African excellence.
Okyeame Kwame emphasized the importance of telling our own stories. “Africa must be loud, bold, and intentional,” he stated. He highlighted the need for identity and nationhood.
Diallo Sumbry discussed reconnecting Africa with its diaspora. He stressed changing minds and hearts in communities. “The African dream is a call to reclaim our identity,” he said.
Emmaline Datey focused on Africa's role in leadership narratives. She encouraged ownership of spaces rather than waiting for inclusion. Her words received applause from the audience.
Bright Tenbil called for youth-driven dialogue and responsibility. “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” he remarked.
The evening was filled with pride at the Chateau Nana Willine Hotel. Its African aesthetic enhanced the discussions taking place. The message was clear: now is the time to elevate Africa’s voice.
AfroTalks 2025 is set for May 24 and promises deeper discussions on modern Africa's issues. The event will feature visionary speakers from various sectors, fostering thought and strategy.
