Renowned Osibisa founder and musical icon Teddy Osei was laid to rest on April 5, 2025, in a moving ceremony held at his family home in Chiriapatre, Kumasi.

A viewing and funeral were followed by a solemn burial mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica. Born Francis Kwabena Osei in 1935, he was celebrated for his work as a saxophonist, drummer, and vocalist, creating timeless hits like “Woyaya” and “Sunshine Day.”

His widow, Benedicta Adu-Poku, delivered an emotional tribute, praising his unwavering devotion to both music and family. She recalled their cherished moments and quoted scripture to express enduring love.

Osei is survived by three daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through Osibisa’s iconic sound and the hearts of fans worldwide.
