Photos: Work resumes on Ho bypass dual carriage road

First Sky Construction Limited has resumed work on the Ho bypass road. This dual carriage road is 10.5 kilometers long and located in the Ho metropolis of the Volta Region.

The Roads Minister, Kwame Agbodza, announced this after visiting the site in March 2025. He confirmed that the road design was ready.

Construction of this road was a key promise by President John Dramani Mahama. It was part of his campaign for the National Democratic Congress during the 2024 elections.

Currently, five earth-moving machines are clearing bushes along the road markings. This is part of preliminary work on this important project.

Once completed, the road will divert traffic from Accra to Aflao. It will help reduce congestion on inner roads in the regional capital.

The bypass stretches from Sokode Etoe Roundabout through UHAS and Mirage. It also passes Ho Technical University and Power House before joining the main Ho-Denu road at Ipalco.

A roundabout will be built at Mirage to improve traffic flow at that intersection.

Construction had previously progressed slowly under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration from 2016 to 2024. The contractor faced financial difficulties, which delayed progress.

Despite these challenges, some sections received extensive work, including bitumen surfacing between Sokode-Etoe and Mirage.

Residents eagerly await completion of this road. They believe it will enhance infrastructure and boost commercial activities and social life in their area.
