Police arrest 2 for transporting suspected stolen ECG cables in Central Region

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects. They are linked to transporting electricity cables. These cables are believed to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The police shared this information on X, formerly known as Twitter. The suspects are Mohammed Sulemana and Iddrisu Basit. Both work as drivers’ mates for an articulated truck.

The police apprehended them on April 1, 2025, in Gomoa Awombrew. They found the truck, registered GC 7410-11, loaded with 28 rims of ECG cables. The truck was parked at Gomoa Awombrew.

ECG officials inspected the cables. Mr. David Ackom, their Operations Officer, confirmed they owned the cables. However, he noted that no such delivery was expected in the area.

The truck driver, Zibo Imoro, is currently on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to find him. The truck remains under police guard while investigations continue.
