Police drowns in River Offin during galamsey operation at Assin Asaman

A police officer drowned this morning in the River Offin.

The incident happened at Assin Asaman during an operation against illegal mining.

The officer, identified as Constable Kwabena Dogbe, was found after a four-hour search.

This operation was led by the Central North Regional Police Command.

It is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining in the area.

When police arrived, suspected illegal miners fled across the river.

In an attempt to seize their equipment, Constable Dogbe slipped and drowned.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
