Portable sentenced to three months imprisonment

Nigerian street-hop artist Portable is in the news again. He has been sentenced to three months in prison. He can pay a ₦30,000 fine instead of serving time. This follows his conviction on three counts, including assault and resisting arrest.

The case involves an incident from 2023. Portable reportedly assaulted a police officer at Odogwu Bar in Ogun State. The officer, Inspector Hammed Moshood, was left injured.

Portable initially breached his bail conditions. He was later arrested and remanded before his sentencing at the Magistrate Court in Ifo.

The verdict has sparked discussions online. Fans and critics are divided over the leniency of the fine. Portable's team has not yet released an official statement.

This situation adds to the singer’s legal troubles. He recently secured a ₦2 million bail related to another case with Ogun State. Additionally, he faces a defamation lawsuit from Fuji legend Saheed Osupa.
