Sarkodie allegedly orders legal team to withdraw court case against Ecobank

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has asked his legal team to withdraw a court case against Ecobank.

Reports indicate that while Sarkodie wants to drop the case, Ecobank plans to continue with legal action.

Sarkodie previously filed a civil suit against Ecobank and a lookalike of himself. This was due to an advertisement where Ecobank used the lookalike for its anti-fraud campaign, #ItsGivingScam.

In the ad, Ecobank warned customers about fraud, stating: “Looks Can Be Deceiving.” They aimed to raise awareness about scams in their industry.

Sarkodie was unhappy with the bank's use of his lookalike. He claims it damages his brand and has sued for defamation.

Court documents show he seeks general damages and a permanent injunction against further use of his image. He also wants all related publications removed from circulation.

Ecobank must appear in court within eight days regarding this defamation suit. If they fail to appear, it could negatively impact their case outcome.
