Evangelist Suro Nyame has defended Shatta Wale's performance at Jamaica's Freedom Concert, where he shared the stage with Vybz Kartel.
Addressing critics on Facebook, Nyame, a Shatta Movement supporter, praised Shatta Wale’s ability to connect with the audience through a diverse song selection.
Critics argued Shatta’s departure from traditional dancehall styles didn’t align with Jamaican expectations, but Nyame countered that dancehall’s roots shouldn’t restrict artistic expression.
He emphasized Shatta’s humility, citing his symbolic act of kneeling to honor Vybz Kartel, calling it a heartfelt tribute.
Nyame insisted the performance showcased Shatta’s respect, principles, and unique artistry.
