She said ‘let’s do it’ — Daniel Etim-Effiong opens up about how he married Toyosi

Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong recently shared his marriage journey. He revealed how a rejection from a former girlfriend led him to Toyosi.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, he discussed his readiness for marriage. At that time, he was dating someone who wasn’t ready to settle down.

“I was tired of several relationships,” he said. “I told my girlfriend I was ready to marry, but she wasn’t.” They were in South Africa when this conversation happened.

His girlfriend had plans for graduate school in the U.S. She didn’t want to feel “tied” down. This left him disappointed and questioning their future together.

“That rejection made me clearer about what I wanted,” he explained. “I needed someone who wanted marriage too.”

Soon after, Etim-Effiong returned to Nigeria for a project. There, he reconnected with Toyosi, the production manager for the project.

“It was her first job back in Nigeria from New York,” he noted. They had been talking before but met again during this project.

Their professional relationship quickly turned personal. “We talked a lot, and I expressed my desire to marry her,” he said. She responded positively: “Let’s do it.”

Now, they are one of Nollywood’s admired couples. Their love is celebrated along with their mutual respect and creative collaborations.
